We ask the department of Transport to amend current overtaking laws and persue the adoption of a law that requires motorists to give cyclists 1.5metres clearance when passing from the rear.

Stayin’ Alive at 1.5 Campaign

Campaign focused on having a defined lateral overtaking space of 1.5 metres, in relation to cyclists, written in to Irish Law. Bicycle specific Minimum Passing Distance Laws (MPDL) are now in place in 28 US states, 2 Canadian Provences, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and is currently being rolled out throughout Australian states and territories. This offers invaluable, lifesaving protection to cyclists.
