There are 3 distances to choose from;

30km Rural Ramble – (suitable for those starting out with some training)

1point5 half century ride (50kms) – (suitable for a more experienced rider)

1point5 Centurt Ride (100kms) – (suitable for experienced sportive riders)

There is the 1point5 Rural Ramble which covers almost 30kms and while not to be taken lightly is very suitable for beginners.

The 1point5 half century ride is a tougher task and climbs over Sliabh Bhuidhe and is ideal for somebody wishing to ‘dip their toe’ into the world of cyclo sportives. It’s distance is just short of 50kms and follows the first 50km of the century ride so it allows the opportunity for some participants of different abilities to cycle for the first 50kms together.

The 1point5 Century Ride shares the first 50kms with the half century ride so allows the opportunity to ride with someone who may not want to do this longer distance. Along with the climb over Sliabh Bhuidhe, this ride takes in the Corrubut climb which hits 19% at one point  this is followed by the much easier 9 stones climb.

NOTE: This ride is for experienced adult sportive riders.

This ride itself is dedicated to all bicycle riders as we help to build awareness for a safe passing zone between motorised vehicles and bicycle riders. Funds raised will go towards building more awareness around this simple yet very important message. This, in turn, will help promote this message through our awareness stall, road signage, newspaper adverts, stickers, jerseys website or other awareness tools. This event this year will also be sharing funds raised with the Nial Mellon Trust.

“Mellon Educate is an Irish-based African development charity founded by Nial Mellon.
Volunteers expect to build a school for the children of the township’s in South Africa. Thus equipping them with an education helping them to get out of the cycle of hopelessness and poverty.
By supporting this charity your money will go to getting our volunteers out there and providing the materials needed to build a school, to build hope, to build independence and to build a society that can help itself”.

Support:

First aid for the event will be provided by Wexford Civil Defence. There will also be a bike mechanic present to assist you. However it’s most important that you come prepared and make sure you check your bike before the event. At the very least, you should have 2 spare tubes, a pump, tyre lifters and a mini tool and be familiar with some basic bike maintenance such as changing your tube. There will also be a ‘broom wagon’ for those unable to complete their chosen event. These events though should not be taken lightly and require some pre event training is highly recommended to get the most enjoyment out of your day.
